Robin van Persie was already the most talked about footballer in the off-season and the Dutchman’s statement earlier this week has only added to the intense media speculation about his future. The Daily Mail update that Barcelona and AC Milan have now joined the race for the striker, thus providing Manchester City and Juventus with tough competition. Reports in Catalunya have suggested that Barca are prepared to sell David Villa to fund the purchase of Van Persie while over in Italy, Milan have a similar plan, only involving their enigmatic Swede Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
Man City and Juve have been the two names constantly linked with Van Persie all summer but with certain sections of the media suggesting that he might prefer a move abroad rather than within the Premier League, more suitors have cropped up like wild mushrooms. The 28 year old has previously stated that Barca were the only other team he enjoyed watching and considering rich Dutch history at the club, the chance to play at the Nou Camp might be enticing. As for Milan, the Serie A isn’t the force it used to be in the 90s and it is hard to see a player at the peak of his powers shift to the Italian league.

At least with all these clubs interested we may get the figure we deserve for a change.
