Premier League giants Chelsea have had a very disappointing domestic campaign. With a high profile manager appointed in the summer in the form of Andre Villas-Boas, they were expected to challenge for the title. However, the young Portuguese was eventually sacked following a dreadful run and the Blues are now in danger of missing out on Champions League football next season.
Therefore, it is quite obvious why the club are widely touted to heavily invest in the squad in the summer. One of the players, who has reportedly been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge is Napoli’s 30-year old wing back Christian Maggio, who impressed with his performances against the Blues in the Champions League.
However, the player’s agent Massimo Briaschi has now come out and rubbished all speculations of an exit and was quoted by Tuttomercatoweb as saying, “Chelsea interested in Maggio? There is no news there. Christian extended his contract at Napoli until 2017 and that says it all. There is, and there won’t be, any news on this.”
With the player not interested in a switch, the Italian club are unlikely to accept any offers for him and Chelsea will now have to look at other targets in order to reinforce their squad for next season.
