Arsenal and Liverpool in the battle to land Turkish striker
A three way tussle between Arsenal, Liverpool and Napoli awaits fans in the summer with the European bigwigs reportedly hot on the trail of Galatasary striker Burak Yilmaz.
The 27 year old Turkish striker set the Champions League alight earlier in the season with 8 goals in the tournament, and is likely to end the tournament as its third best marksman. However, with Didier Drogba having joined the club this winter, and Galatasary chasing plenty of big name players like Lukas Podolski, Gervinho and Arjen Robben, it appears quite likely that Yilmaz will attempt to find himself a new club in the summer where he can continue to prove himself on a weekly basis.
Napoli with their offer of Champions League football next season are the current frontrunners for Yilmaz’s signature, and with Edinson Cavani set to leave the club in the summer, money and playing time will both be easily on offer for the Italians. That will not come as good news to Arsenal and Liverpool, who could be asked to pay upto £15 million pounds to compete with Napoli in the race for Yilmaz.
