Arsenal midfielder gets his wish and will not return to The Emirates for another season

Sao Paulo have confirmed that wantaway Arsenal midfielder Denilson will spend another season on loan at the Brazilian club.

24-year old Denilson, who was deemed as excess to requirements at the Emirates, moved to his childhood club Sao Paulo on a one-year loan deal after growing frustrated with the lack of chances he received at the Emirates.

With competition for places expected to be even tougher in the coming season for the Gunners, Denilson had expressed a desire to stay on at the club he left for Arsenal in 2006, a wish that has been granted by his parent club.

Sao Paulo announced on their website that Denilson’s move indeed had been extended by another year, with the club’s head coach Emerson Leao saying: “Denilson has much quality and last season he performed well here. Arsenal, rightly, would not initially release the player.

“Fortunately we had high-level talks in England with the board and everything was settled for the extension of the player’s deal. I am sure he will continue to be a benefit to the team.”
