Barcelona forward David Villa has been linked with a host of English clubs, notably Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal for a possible move in the January transfer window.
While Liverpool and Spurs are interested in taking the Spain international on loan, Arsenal may go all the way to secure a permanent deal for the Spanish star.
Barcelona’s Director of Football Andoni Zubizarreta declared a few weeks back that the Catalan club won’t do any business in January.
He was quoted in press: “In January we will keep Villa. It is important to remember that Barcelona is a club that habitually does not accept offers for star players in January.”
Indeed, Villa is one of their prized assets and naturally the club will try their best to keep hold of him. The Valencia cult-hero was signed in 2010 for a reported fee of 40m Euros. Villa has always scored over 20 goals in a season at Los Che and it was no surprise that after earning laurels with Spain in Euro Championship 2008 & World Cup 2010, Barcelona would be hot on heels for his signature.
