Since his arrival form French side Montpellier in the summer, Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud has failed to set the world alight with his goal-scoring and came under criticism for it. But he has come out today and stated that he has a target that he wants to reach by the end of the season.
Giroud struggled to adjust to the pace and tempo of the Premier League in the first few months of the season, but in recent weeks he has found the back of the net and his fortunes are beginning to change.
Tall, strong, intelligent and a clinical finisher, he scored has set himself a target of fifteen goals in his debut season in the Premier League and many fans hope that he achieves that and more.
Speaking to Sky Sports he said: “I’m starting to quieten the doubters a bit. I’m feeling better and better in this team and I think you can see it.
“Last year, I scored 21 goals in the league (for Montpellier) and only one of them was with my head, but it’s true that I’m getting a lot more crosses here.
“I’m trying to build an understanding with my new team-mates and we are getting to know each other more and more.”
The new Arsenal forward has always believed that he will eventually his feet in the English game and the goals will start to flow. So now that he has found some kind of form, he hopes that he will go on and progress into the striker that all the critics expect him to be.
