AS Roma vice-captain Daniele De Rossi seems to be plotting a way out of his current club if reports in Italy are to be believed. The midfielder, who sat out his team’s 1-0 victory at Pescara this weekend due to suspension, spent the weekend in London and utilized this opportunity to talk to representatives of English giants Manchester City and Chelsea over a potential January transfer.
The English champions Manchester City’s interest in the combative midfielder is an open secret but now it seems they may have to compete with Chelsea to land their target. The news though would come as a bitter blow to Roma fans who see De Rossi as the club’s future captain, the logical successor of Francesco Totti.
The 29 year old apparently took great care to ensure that news of his clandestine England trip is not leaked to media so that Roma officials remain unaware of his transfer intentions but now with the news breaking he may have a lot of explaining to do to his current bosses.
