Aston Villa deadline day speculation plus one deal almost certain to happen

Desperation to avoid relegation has taken Paul Lambert to French shores. The Sun claims that Aston Villa has completed the signing of midfielder Yacouba Sylla from French Ligue 2 club Clermont for an initial fee of £2 million which could increase with add-ons. The paper claims that Villa are also eyeing a last-minute move for Chelsea reject Florent Malouda.

All of Stoke City’s strikers seem to be in demand on deadline day. Following QPR’s interest in Peter Crouch, Aston Villa are considering a late swoop for Kenwyne Jones in an attempt to lift their flagging fortunes according to reports in the Mirror.

England’s own journey-man, Darren Bent, could be chasing hopeless long balls at the Britannia Stadium soon if reports in the Daily Mail are to be believed. Stoke City are said to be interested in the 28 year old, whose stock has fallen so low that he was substituted at half-time against Newcastle. Kenwyne Jones will act as both a courier for a bag containing £10m and a makeweight in the deal as a whole.

i think villa should go along with the kenwyne jones deal and give them bent and we get 10 million tidy, but i also think that we should go for chelsea out of luck midfielder malouda that will give us a boost and more experience to our young side

we dont need another striker. we need a leftback and central defender. and why would we spend 2 years slashing the wage bill to bring in malouda who wants nearly 100k a week.

A boy can dream… Malouda. Love the idea but it won’t happen.
