Daniel Agger continues to be heavily linked with an exit from Liverpool but he is still awaiting a concrete offer from Barcelona according to the Mundo Deprotivo. The Reds have rejected two bids from Manchester City for the Danish centre-back, who’s future at the club has been thrown unto added uncertainty due to his no-show at their pre-season games so far. He even missed a Europa League qualifier, but manager Brendan Rodgers insisted that it was purely fitness related.
Liverpool are rumoured to be working on a new contract for the 27 year old, whose current deal runs out in two years. But the report claims that they are unlikely to offer a bumper raise considering their plan to cut-down on wages. This has fuelled the speculation surrounding the centre-back and his partner Martin Skrtel, both of whom have been tracked by clubs this summer.
Although, the Catalans believe that his asking price could prove to be out of reach, with some corners suggesting a €25m price tag. Barca’s need for a centre-back is well documented but whether they would cough up such a high fee is doubtful, especially after they pulled out of a move for Javi Martinez due to financial reasons.
