Chelsea manager Rafael Benitez insists that he cannot change the perception of the fans and believes the team is going through a transition phase.

Benitez was not a popular choice among the fans and has not been well received by Stamford Bridge faithful. With recent results a bit inconsistent  the task of the Spaniard has become a lot more difficult. He understands the reasons for frustration and says he is working hard to take the team back on track.

Benitez feels that Chelsea are currently going through a transition phase but have the potential to enjoy another golden era in years to come.

Rafa said as quoted in the press:

“Some of them need more confidence and some more experience in the Premier League. They can compete now but they can be even better.

“The reality is that we are a team in transition. The priority is to finish in the top four or top three.

“After that, we have two more trophies that we can try with the FA Cup and the Europa League.”

Benitez added that the hunger of winning trophies is still there in him and wants to carry on getting more success in future. The problem is he won’t be given any contract extension at Chelsea and he is not doing enough to earn that contract even.
