Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho is certainly displeased with his team’s performance against Everton and media reports suggest that the Portuguese is contemplating recalling Belgian striker Romelu Lukaku from his loan spell even before the youngster has played a game.
The Blues crashed to a 1-0 defeat courtesy of a late first half strike by Steven Naismith and Mourinho certainly didn’t seem pleased with his team’s lack of sting in front of the goal. Though the Portuguese didn’t single out and blame Samuel Eto’o in his post match conference, the Cameroonian’s two missed chances clearly agitated him. Consequently, it is believed that Mourinho may consider recalling Lukaku, who is presently on loan at Goodison Park.
An unnamed source was quoted telling SportsDirect News: “Out of Eto’o, Fernando Torres and Lukaku, you have to say the latter is the best on current form. For that reason it is strange he can’t even get on the Chelsea bench. However, after today’s performance by the Chelsea attack, Jose may bring Romelu back.”
Lukaku moved to the Merseyside club on deadline day after reports surfaced of him not featuring in the manager’s plans for the season. It had been speculated that the Belgian’s crucial penalty miss in the UEFA Super Cup match against Bayern Munich considerably paved the way for his departure, to gain more big stage experience with Chelsea keen to utilise him only after his full development.
