Chelsea’s pursuit of Norwich shot-stopper, John Ruddy is finally poised to bear fruit as the Blues hope that their new £7 million bid will force the Canaries to part ways with their No.1. The ‘Special One’ Jose Mourinho is looking forward to secure Ruddy’s signature as the Portuguese manager is keen on the shot-stopper to be a first-choice alternative to the London outfit’s ever-dependable Petr Cech.
The Blues were rather hastened in their attempts to sign Ruddy, as they have already let go of Ross Turnbull and Henrique Hilario, whilst the exciting Thibaut Courtois has been allowed to go out on loan to Atletico Madrid yet again.
Chelsea were rebuffed in their initial £5 million offer for Ruddy last week as Norwich valued their star shot-stopper at £10 million. Ruddy, has undoubtedly been Norwich’s star performer ever since they won back promotion to the Premier League, but the player suffered an injury-curtailed campaign during the previous season.
Mourinho is mooted to be keen on completing a deal as soon as possible, but Norwich are not budging on their asking price.
However, the player himself is said to be having second-thoughts about a move to Stamford Bridge as he does not want to be warming the bench during a season in which the World Cup will be right round the corner.
