Newcastle earned precious three points at St James’ Park on Saturday, courtesy of a sensational brace from Moussa Sissoko who made his dream home debut against Chelsea.
The Blues have won just three games in their last eight matches in all competitions which made Benitez’s position at the club untenable as fans are getting continuously hostile against the Spaniard.
But was he to blame for all this? Partly may be, but not to a major extent. Chelsea fans are throwing their anger to someone who doesn’t deserve the amount of backlash he is getting.
Is this a Rafa’s team by any stretch of imagination? He is just an interim boss and doesn’t have the command over the dressing room at all. Plus, the departures of key players for the African Cup of Nations meant, the squad is already depleted.
And who is to blame for that? Yes, obviously Rafa. It is Rafa’s fault that he was hand tied to select players like Benayoun, Ake, Marin, Ferreira in the side who are known for their reputations as great game changers, right? On top of it, there is a £50m striker who has become a butt of ridicule these days.
It is ludicrous to think that each and every time an interim manager will change the destiny of the team. He is not only expected to win trophies in short times but is also expected to play a beautiful adventures game, as per demands of the owner.
