Chelsea offering Torres and cash for world class South American hit man
Chelsea are hoping that Rafa Benitez’s love for Spanish striker Fernando Torres could get him to accept an opportunity to trade the striker for Napoli hitman Edinson Cavani plus a wadful of cash in the upcoming summer transfer window.
Torres, who has largely been a failure at Chelsea after his big money more from Liverpool in 2011, threatened to show some glimpses of his best form under Benitez during the closing stages of the season, but it appears to be insufficient to allow him to retain his spot as Chelsea’s lead striker heading into the 2013-14 campaign.
The Blues have had their eye on Edinson Cavani for a while now, but are reportedly behind Premier League rivals Manchester City in the race to sign the Uruguayan. Cavani himself is yet to share what his plans for the future are, but Benitez has expressed his desire to keep him in Naples, but the 50 million pound plus rated star could be Napoli’s best hope of bringing in some cash that could help strengthen their squad by perhaps 3-4 players.
