With Pep Guardiola ready to take charge, there is the dawn of a new era in Munich and this era could begin with the capture of German winger Marko Marin.
The 23-year-old has struggled to life in the Premier League, remaining on the sidelines for the best part of his stay in England. Reports in German media suggest Guardiola would be making Marin his first signing after taking over the club in June. The fading Arjen Robben could be on his way out and might be replaced by the former Bremen player.
Marin’s career hasn’t taken the path most fans in Germany were hoping it would as he struggled with injuries early on while his transfer to Chelsea didn’t help much as he has spent most of the time on the sidelines.
A number of clubs have shown a keen interest in the player including English clubs Fulham and Reading while several other German clubs are also interested in bringing him back to his native land on a loan basis for the rest of the season.
A permanent transfer seems far fetched at this stage, but if Marin’s situation at Chelsea doesn’t improve in the near future this could be a real possibility. Guardiola has always been an admirer of one-two, neat passing football and Marin seems to fit in his philosophy, thus explaining the interest. It will be interesting to see how Chelsea respond to Bayern’s interest for the player and whether they at all let him go back to Germany or not.
