Andre Villas-Boas has reignited his rivalry with Chelsea declaring that the Blues are terrified of Tottenham challenging them for the Premier League title which is the reason why they not only blocked Willian’s arrival to North London, but will also now refuse to sanction the sale of Spanish bench warmer Juan Mata.
The former Chelsea Manager is obviously still upset by the way he was treated at Stamford Bridge, and refused to hold back his punches as he lashed out at his ex-club for their behaviour for the second week running.
Most pundits will agree that Chelsea did not really desperately need to buy a player like Willian because of the quality already available in their squad in the same position, and now Villas-Boas is using Mata as a tool to indicate how petrified the Blues have become of his success in the transfer market.
The young Portuguese manager said, “Chelsea wouldn’t sell to Tottenham in any way or form, as they think that we are title contenders. Mata is a great, great player – player of the season last season – very, very important player for Chelsea. They’re just not going to strengthen another team that, in their opinion, are rivals for the title.”
