Chelsea star issues thinly veiled come and get me plea to Barcelona
Chelsea defender David Luiz has issued what can only be considered a good old fashioned come and get me plea to FC Barcelona. The 26 year old Brazilian has been actively courted by the Catalan giants for a few months now as they look to bolster their defence that is ravaged by age. With Eric Abidal set to be released by the Catalan club, and Carles Puyol edging ever closer to retirement, Barcelona need to buy a young, strong center back who can partner former Manchester United defender Gerard Pique for the better part of the season.
Luiz appears to be their primary target, and the flamboyant Brazilian, who has showcased his versatility in recent months is excited about the prospect of moving to the Camp Nou.
Luiz told the press, ‘My objective is to be happy and this is possible by playing in a team that controls the ball. Barcelona is the team that plays the best football in the last few years. I know Barca are interested in my services, but I do not have any news.’
It will be interesting to see though how much Chelsea ask Barcelona to pay for the talented Brazilian.
