The Belgian international striker Romelu Lukaku has expressed his desire of a loan deal extension at West Bromwich Albion. The Chelsea striker got little time with Andre Villas Boas not trusting his abilities, however Lukaku’s on a purple patch since a loan move to West Brom. It comes as no surprise therefore that the striker wants Chelsea not to end the deal and take him back to London in January.
In an interview with the Wolverhampton Express and Star, Lukaku said: “After January, I am sure I will be at West Brom. I am very happy to know that in my head. ‘Hopefully, I will do well for the rest of the season.’
I don’t think things will change (after Benitez’s appointment). I think he has his plans and I am happy with the team here.”
Lukaku’s desire to stick to West Brom comes as a welcoming break from youngsters queuing up to sign for star teams and happily warming the benches. The 17-year old (at the time when he had signed for Chelsea) was thought to be the heir-apparent to Didier Drgba due to his excellent hold up play, pace and physical presence. However, the turbulent regime at the West London outfit under Andre Villas Boas did little to add to his development. With Lukaku acting as a key figure in West Brom’s 3rd place in the league till now, the striker must have got back his self-confidence and can feel reasonably sure of being on the right track to success.
