Easy to identify the biggest flop at Tottenham this season

While Gareth Bale has taken Tottenham Hotspur to a different height this season, almost taking the burden of the club single handedly, there are some players who have underperformed to a huge extent for Spurs.

New singings Clint Dempsey and Gylfi Sigurdsson haven’t made a huge impact as expected. However, in the Sunday’s match against Arsenal at White Hart Lane, Sigurdsson made a significant contribution for the opening goal and could have bagged one goal too had he converted Defoe’s pass towards the end.

However, the biggest disappoint for Spurs this season is their striker Emmanuel Adebayor. He came last season on loan and impressed everyone with 18 goals and 12 assists. This season, he has only managed three goals in all competitions.

The major point of concern is his attitude towards the game. Manager Andre Villas-Boas was frustrated with his lack of urgency to return to Spurs from national duties while his body language in match days hasn’t been too professional either.

Against Arsenal, he just made 22 touches with only 60% passing accuracy. Is that what a striker should contribute, especially in big games like London Derby? He is the biggest underperformer for Spurs this season.

Useless adebayor worst forward in the league 3 goals for a olayer on 90 grand would not give him 90 pence spurs will ship him off in summer no doubt .

  • Wholeheartedly agree with comments regarding Dempsey and particularly Ade. Disagree with comment on Gilfi, he only comes on for the last 10mins as a sub, what do you expect?

18 goals last season was not that great considering the amount of chances he missed.

  • Sigurd

    Obviously a correct observation….

I have been saying all season he is playing like he wants to make us lose,we have been winning despite him though thank goodness.Hope to see more goals scored now if he’s out through injury,he’s been more a hindrance than help so far.

Why do some people write such drear, negative and possibly hurtful comments? Get a life.

  • I can only assume that this article is not written by a Spurs fan, but either way not a concern.
It does make me laugh that focus must be placed onto an under performing player rather than concentrate on the success and result this season. All I have to say is that Ade did a great job last season and warranted a permanent deal, this season not as good, then there is always next season. I prefer to support the team as singling out players could damage team morale. Oh and if previous records are not important I wish people would stop harping on about how good Wenger used to be. Experience and a track record are important. If Ade is not living up to expectations I am sure Levy and AVB will make the expert decision.
