Five things Tottenham must do to hang on to Gareth Bale
Gareth Bale was unstoppable last night. He scored a second half hat-trick as Aston Villa suffered second successive humiliating defeats in the Premier League.
The Welshman, the buccaneering darling of the Premier League, has been the key cog for Andre Villas-Boas’s Spurs’ machine this season. In absence of Luka Modric (sold to Real Madrid in summer) he has taken the responsibility on his broad shoulders to guide the club into top four almost singlehandedly, and so far he has been sensational to say the least.
But, he is constantly linked with a move abroad; with Spanish duo Barcelona and Real Madrid are interested for his signature. The player has expressed his desires to play in top clubs as well.
However, Spurs have their own lofty ambitions too and thereby the North Londoners must keep hold of Gareth Bale for many years to come.
UCL – All top players in this planet wants to play Chmapinons League football and Bale is no exception. He wants to play the biggest club competition too. Thereby it is imperative that Spurs finish in Champions League spot on a regular basis.
Trophies – The club has shown high ambitions in recent years. They are in top four now, they finished in top four last season, and now they must take this confidence to the next higher level, i.e. aim for silverwares. This will generate a winning mentality at the club. That’s why it is important they take cup competitions seriously.
Title – In reality, Spurs are not yet ready for title challenge but in coming seasons they have to assemble a squad that can mount serious challenge at the top. An ambitious player like Bale would cherish that.
World class players – To forge a strong unit, you need world class talents. Therefore, Spurs need to dig deep in pockets and splash cash on buying world class players. It’s a cyclical process really. Bale would love to play in a team full of stars and world class talents.
Wages – And finally, pay him the right wages he needs. Why should he have to demand for high wages? He is doing great and he deserves better package because of his performances. The club must make sure that they do everything to keep him happy.
