Tottenham are reportedly ready to offload star playmaker Rafael van der Vaart according to the Daily Mail with a price of £10 million rumoured to be deemed sufficient for the Dutchman. Andre Villas-Boas is looking to establish his own style of play at the club, and VDV reporterdly doesn’t fit the bill. A move back to Germany could become a distinct possibility.
New Tottenham boss Andre Villas-Boas is set to clash with Sir Alex Ferguson over Man Utd youngster Ezekiel Fryers, reports the Mirror. The 19 year old had rejected a new contract at Old Trafford and has instead opted to join Spurs. However, SAF will not let the youngster leave easy; and is set to ask for much more compensation than what Spurs feel he is worth at a transfer tribunal.
Wary of Arsenal’s alleged interest in also signing French goalkeeper Hugo Lloris, Spurs are lining up young England superstar Jack Butland as a possible alternative and are willing to offer £7 million to ensure that their goalkeeping position is secure in the long term. The Daily Mail also suggests that Butland will be allowed to return to Birmginham on a season long loan to continue his development in an attempt to make the deal even sweeter for the Midlands club.
The Metro reports Lassana Diarra could be returning to the Premier League where he will join Tottenham after being told he is surplus to requirements at Real Madrid. The former Chelsea and Arsenal reject, resurrected his career under Harry Redknapp at Portsmouth, but was expected to rule out a move to Spurs after Harry was sacked.·
Tottenham defender Steven Caulker has been offered a new deal at White Hart Lane, confirmed the club’s website. The 20 year-old spent last season on loan at Swansea and impressed considerably during his spell at the Liberty Stadium. The club website reported, “We are delighted to announce that Steven Caulker has signed a new contract with the Club until 2016.”
