German giants ready to break world transfer record to see off Chelsea and Man City
Brazil sensation Neymar could be the subject of a world-record transfer as the Metro understands that Bayern Munich are preparing an £86 milllion bid to sign the Santos star and are keen to beat the likes of Chelsea and Manchester City to the player’s signature.
Neymar is contracted with Santos till 2014 and the forward has signaled his intention to stay in Brazil till the 2014 World Cup, which takes place in his native land. However, several clubs across Europe including Real Madrid, Barcelona, Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City have been eyeing the player for a potential summer swoop.
After beating Chelsea to Pep Guardiola, Bayern are looking to pull the transfer of the decade with a mammoth bid for Neymar which could tempt the Brazilian to make the leap from South America to Europe.
Chelsea have a plethora of Brazilians at the club and the Blues were keen to add to that brigade by making the high-profile signing of Neymar. However, owner Roman Abramovich is unlikely to shell out such an amount to rival Bayern as the club fights to stay within UEFA’s Financial Fair Play regulations.
The Blues are also searching for a new manager as Rafael Benitez is set to step down at the end of the season and after Abramovich’s first choice Guardiola chose Bayern Munich, the Russian has been left dealing with back-up options.
