Hint of fantasy as both Wayne Rooney and Kaka are targeted

The rise of football in China has been phenomenal to say the least and the Asian giant is looking to attract a host of stars from the European leagues to give Didier Drogba and Nicolas Anelka company. Guangzhou Evergrande, the Chinese Super League club bankrolled by a wealthy billionaire, are reportedly in the market for Real Madrid’s Kaka and Manchester United’s Wayne Rooney. While there is more than a hint of fantasy in the transfer links, Sportsmediaset.it report that the club are prepared to offer an astronomical annual wage packet of €18m for both the stars. The club are currently being trained by the legendary Marcello Lippi while Aiyegbeni Yakubu is also rumoured to be headed east.

Rooney and his representatives are unlikely to take the offer too seriously, but the 30 year old Kaka might be tempted by the offer considering his career is going nowhere at Real Madrid. The Brazilian was one of the biggest names in world football less than five years ago but a series of injuries and a drastic drop in form has seen him fall from the spotlight. Madrid will make a huge loss if they do decide to sell the attacker as they spent a whopping €65m to sign him from AC Milan, although they will recoup over one-third of the fee as Guangzhou are prepared to pay a transfer fee of €25m.

    Phenomenal!!??

So two, very gifted but old players, have gone to China and now it is ‘phenomenal’!? Yeah right, there might be money but no footballing culture. It will only ever attract players at the end of their careers.

Not here to comment on the transfer speculation; that is clearly fantasy.

I’m here to defend Kaka; the comments about him being a spent player are ridiculous and tiresome, and clearly from people who don’t watch La Liga.

24 goals & 31 assists in 92 games for Real Madrid after recovering from a serious career threatening injury; not bad for a midfielder!

He doesn’t quite get the headlines in Spain but that’s because he is in a massively talented squad; at AC Milan he was THE playmaker and main man in the team.

He is a quality player and deserves respect. These are simply typical comments from the narrow-minded English media that know nothing about football. As evidenced by the performance of the England national team. They are even purring over Pirlo recently (who is an amazing player) despite the fact that they have lambasted him previsouly whilst at AC Milan! Pathetic.

John, i totally agree with you, 100%,

only thing i would like to add is, Man utd need to get as much money for wayne rooney now.. he’s the biggest flop ever. I said this along time ago, after his no goals in 8 months. people were saying give him time, even the media were saying give him time.. Torres has been destroyed by the media.

Rooney is a joke. and I’m a man utd fan. SELL HIM! and get a real goal scorer.. not a defensive mid.

Who an earth would want Rooney for his first touch or lack of dribbling ability?
    Come on and wake up…

  • Ben

Rooney biggest flop ever…right, that’s why he was second highest goalscorer in the premier league last year right?

  • David

So 37 goals last year isn’t the form of a ‘real’ goalscorer?
