Juventus, who have been busy trying to sign a world-class striker this summer, are set to test Liverpool’s resolve with a handsome bid for their Uruguayan forward Luis Suarez.
Suarez, who joined Liverpool a mere 18 months ago, has been largely successful at Anfield, but is said to be growing frustrated with the side’s rapid demise in the Premier League.
The 25-year old is in the midst of contract talks with the Reds over an extension to his current deal, but still has not put pen to paper, and could be tempted to jump ship to a Juventus side that fully completed its revival last season by winning the Serie A.
The Old Lady are trying to work other options like Robin van Persie and Edin Dzeko as well, but are keen on claiming Suarez, who was on their radar even before he signed for the Merseyside club.
Reports suggest that Juventus may even offer a cash-plus-player deal for Suarez, with Alessandro Matri the possible makeweight in the deal.
The Liverpool board however have no intentions of seeing their top scorer leave through the exit doors of Anfield, and with new manager Brendan Rodgers trying to rebuild the side, are unlikely to budge from that stance this summer.
