Liverpool have made an attempt to lift the gloom surrounding Anfield after their FA Cup exit at the hands of Oldham Athletic by announcing the capture of Brazilian midfielder Coutinho. The 20 year old arrives from Inter Milan for a fee in the region of £8.5m after prolonged negotiations and the youngster spent no time in buttering the fans by telling the club’s website: “I’m feeling very happy, it’s a very important step in my career. Liverpool is a great club with great players. We’ve always heard about Liverpool’s history in Brazil.” Managing Director Ian Ayre was more succinct with his speech though: “We’re always delighted when we get the players we go after.”
