Liverpool emerge in pole position to land Benfica midfielder Nicolas Gaitan

Liverpool have emerged as the favourites to sign Benfica attacking midfielder Nicolas Gaitan ahead of both Man City and Man Utd.

Gaitan is not a prolific scorer by any means but he knows how to open up defences and has made his way on to many a clubs radar over the last year and providing that a decent enough offer is tabled, then Benfica are expected to release the Argentinian.

It is a surprise to some extent that Liverpool have been linked with Gaitan, their midfield and forward line are not really an issue, it is their defence that is, however a large squad is required with Champions League football next season and that may well be the reasoning behind their interest.

A bid in the region of £20 million should be enough to persuade the Portuguese giants to sell a player they bought for £7 million four years ago.

  • I support arsenal cause im a lun but I think Liverpool should buy this player because he is handsome

  • Time to strengthen the defence is now otherwise we have been let down quite enough. At least 2 more strikers will also be needed in case of fatal injuries

Were gonna end up wasting our transfer money! Would you have this geezer or Rakitic? Worth it for an extra few million. He’s scored 15 goals from midfield for heavens sake and that’s in the La Liga. Not some Mickey Mouse league!

It is better Liverpool sack brendal rodgers, because, it’s doesn’t know anything about football.
