Brendan Rodgers, the Liverpool manager will be looking forward to bringing in the Finnish goal machine Joel Pohjanpalo in the January transfer window to bolster his attacking line-up.
The Reds are currently short of options in the attacking department. With Fabio Borini, the club’s high profile summer signing out for several months, Rodgers is left with Luis Suarez as the only lone striker in the team. And if he gets injured, the Merseyside club will be down to bare bones in the forward department and the former Swansea boss will have to rely on academy talents to deliver.
The 18-year-old is known to be a boyhood fan of Liverpool and performed a week-long trial at the club in the summer. Liverpool scouts were impressed with his potential and wanted to offer the youngster a place in the club’s youth team but the Helsinki striker refused such temptations with an aim of developing faster in his home land.
Since taking the managerial role at Anfield, Rodgers has given ample opportunities to youngsters to prove their mettle. According to reports by The Metro, the Reds will offer an improved contract for the player with talks believing to be going on at an advanced stage.
The youngster has also been in the good books of top London clubs – Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur – but as it stands now Liverpool can convince the starlet to join the Red army by offering £1 million to Helsinki.
