Liverpool risk losing out on target as other suitors including Sunderland hover
Clint Dempsey’s future continues to hang in the balance as prime suitors, Liverpool, have as yet been unable to finalise a deal with Fulham. Manager Brendan Rodgers is desperate to reach an agreement with the Cottagers as Sunderland and AS Roma are believed to be hovering to snatch the American should Liverpool fail in their quest.
Mirror Football reports that Rodgers is prepared to compromise and offer a larger sum, though the 10 million pound price sought by Fulham will not be met. Charlie Adam could move to Fulham too in cash plus player deal.
Dempsey has been left out of both of Fulham’s opening league games and it is clear he wants out. The London club however have not taken Liverpool’s interest quite so well and made an official complaint to the Football Association regarding the means used by the Reds. Rodgers had commented that talks between Liverpool and Fulham had taken place but no formal bid had been placed.
Relations between Dempsey and Fulham have soured and a move seems certain. Liverpool must hurry in their pursuit as deadline day looms.
