Liverpool to continue spending with at least three more players being lined up
Christmas has come early for Liverpool fans with Brendan Rodgers getting ready to loosen his purse strings and splash some more cash in the summer transfer window. The rookie Reds’ manager has already brought in four players to bolster his squad this summer and looks set to bring in 3 more according to reports in yesterday’s Sunday Mirror.
Simon Mignolet, Kolo Toure, Iago Aspas and Luis Alberto have already joined the ranks of the Reds this summer, and are poised to be joined by the Ajax duo of Christian Eriksen and Toby Alderweireld, not to mention Chelsea defender Ryan Bertrand as Rodgers continues to build a squad in his own image.
The Mirror says that Liverpool will spend an extravagant £22 million to bring the Ajax pair to Merseyside, while it will be interesting to see what kind of asking price Chelsea quote for young Bertrand, who is of course well known to Rodgers from his time with the Blues, following which they worked together during a loan spell for the left back at Reading.
Meanwhile, Eriksen is rated at £15 million and is targeted as a replacement for Henrikh Mkhitaryan, who rejected a move Liverpool to join Borussia Dortmund instead, while Alderweireld, rated at £7 million, just turned down a move to Norwich last week.
