Liverpool turn their attention to Germany in search of a new hit man

Liverpool’s first capture of the summer could well be Borussia Dortmund’s Jakub Blaszczykowski as Goal.com reveals that the Reds are one among five clubs vying for the winger’s signature. The Polish International has been attracting a lot of intention ever since helping Dortmund to earn back-to-back Bundesliga titles and his time in Germany might be about to end as the suitors circle around. The 26 year old only a year left in his current deal with the German Champions and although he has insisted that he remains focused on Dortmund, he hasn’t committed himself to a new deal.

Blaszczykowski was quoted saying: “It’s not true that I have already signed a contract. My current deal with Dortmund still runs and I’m focusing on BVB. There’s no reason to talk about a contract at this point.”

The interested parties also include Lazio and Inter Milan in Italy and two unnamed clubs in Russia as Liverpool face tough competition to sign the attacker. Brendan Rodgers has been quiet in the transfer window so far but he is expected to make some moves in the next few weeks. The lack of quality in the wide areas has always been a problem for the Reds and with Dirk Kuyt leaving the club, the right-wing spot is up for grabs.
