Liverpool turn their attention to Scotland for new midfielder

New Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is looking to land Celtic midfielder Ki Sung-Yueng as he feels that the South Korean star would greatly help him in his bid to transform Liverpool into the attacking unit he was hired to produce.

However, the Sun reports that Liverpool would have to battle with other suitors of the Celtic star which include fellow Premier League club Queens Park Rangers, Russian giants Rubin Kazan and Spanish club Deportivo La Coruna, besides the many Bundesliga sides.

Liverpool are reportedly ready to table a £7 million bid for 23 year old to ensure he arrives at Anfield. Brendan Rodgers wants to partner up the skillful player with Captain Steven Gerrard in the centre of the park as he feels that they could form a great partnership together.

However, QPR could land a blow to Brendan Rodgers’ ambitions as they are trying to make Sung-Yueng their second South Korean signing of the summer. Park Ji-Sung arrival might actually help in persuading the player to join the London side over the Merseyside club.

QPR Chairman Tony Fernandes recently stated that, “Ki is a very good player and we are very aware of him. He is a player we will be watching and also monitoring closely.” A transfer battle seems to be on the cards for the tall central midfielder.
