A lot has been said over the past few weeks about Manchester United’s lack of defensive quality, but it isn’t just the defence that should be criticised for the team’s ability not to keep clean sheets this season.
As we all know, defending is an art. Your either good at it or you are shocking at it. But for a team to be good defensively you need everybody to chip in, from the back-line to the forwards and it seems that not enough united players are chipping in with helping out their poor defence.
They cannot keep playing the game of; we can score more goals than you can because even though it is exciting to watch, they will never be able to keep up with the likes of Chelsea and Manchester city.
They need the Midfielders to get back into shape a lot quicker, up the work-rate and put a bit more emphasis on defending right now because they are clearly not strong at the back, and if teams feel they can get at them, then they will and it will ultimately end with United chasing or letting the opposition back into the game.
As for the forwards? Wayne Rooney always gives everything for the team, he is defending and dropping into the midfield to help out more often than not but when United don’t have the ball, Robin Van Persie needs to help out more. It’s great scoring tons of goals but you need to do your bit for the team and drop back and help out whenever you are needed too
Fergusons men are poor this season at the back and they need all the help they can from the players in front of them, if they are to win anything this season.
