Man Utd eyeing up £10 Million rated teenage defender

Manchester United are thought to be interested in Greek defender Kyriakos Papadopoulos and are preparing a bid for the youngster.

The 19-year-old is attracting the attention of clubs throughout Europe after his impressive displays in the Schalke first team since his move from Olympiakos in 2010 and Sir Alex Ferguson is thought to be an admirer of the defender and is preparing to move for the youngster in January.

Reports in Germany are suggesting that Sir Alex has sent scouts to monitor Papadopoulos’ progress and the reports that the Manchester United boss is very pleased with what he has been shown, and with the young defender currently cementing his claim in the Greece Senior team, playing in 6 internationals as well as scoring two goals in their successful Euro 2012 qualifying campaign that will see Papadopoulos take centre stage at next years competition.

Manchester United are hoping to wrap up a deal before Papadopoulos is thrust into the media spotlight during the Euro championships and a fee of around £10 million is being reported in Germany.
