Manchester United boss David Moyes has upped his offer for Marouane Fellaini and Leighton Baines considerably to £36m, but with just three days left to go for the close of the transfer window, the Scot is not willing to take any chances. Spanish radio station Cadena COPE has revealed that the Red Devils have tabled a substantial £25m (€30m) offer for Athletic Bilbao midfielder Ander Herrera.
The 24 year old is contracted to the Spanish side until 2016 but a plethora of impressive performances have reportedly brought him under the scanner of United scouts, with the club now willing to bring him to Old Trafford. However, the Red Devils’ current bid might not be enough to prise the Spaniard away from the San Mamés Stadium, and United might need to up their offer to meet his massive £31m (€36m) release clause.
Herrera, a traditional attacking midfielder, is also known to settle easily in a holding or a defensive role in midfield. The 24 year old is known for his composure and ball control and can play as a typical box to box midfielder, should the need arise.
