Swansea star Joe Allen has dismissed all speculations linking him with a move to another club in the summer. The 22-year old midfielder was quoted by the Daily Mirror as saying, “I can’t see why I won’t be at Swansea next season. Ever since I’ve come through at this club things have been ideal for me. The club has definitely helped my development and I’m grateful for that.”
Allen has been one of the star performers for the Swans this term and has made 33 league appearances for them, scoring 3 goals and creating another 2 in the process. A bevy of clubs including Tottenham, Manchester United and Liverpool were believed to be keen on the player, although the midfielder now looks set to extend his stay at Liberty stadium.
The news will come as a great relief for Swansea, who would have been wary of losing some of their stars after an impressive domestic campaign following their return to the Premier League. However, given Allen’s potential, one can’t help but feel that he is destined for a bigger club and although a summer move may not materialise, an eventual transfer to another club could fructify in the next few years.
