Luka Modric’s dream move to Real Madrid might have hit a roadblock, but his former Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp revealed that the Croatian was promised a transfer to Madrid by the club. After holding off Chelsea last summer, Daniel Levy is said to have told the midfielder: “Give us one more season and if Real come in I won’t stand in your way,” Redknapp told The Sun. Redknapp was also confident that the 26 year old would leave for the La Liga before the end of the window.
Staying at White Hart Lane, the Daily Star claim that Tottenham are in for a fierce battle with AC Milan for Brazilian hotshot Damiao. The 23 year old, who has taken the Olympics by storm, has been a long-term target for Spurs but with Milan now arriving on the scene, they fear a bidding war is about to ensue.
In related news, the Metro feel Andre Villas-Boas could go for Edin Dzeko instead as the Spurs boss continues his search for a striker. With the Emmanuel Adebayor deal all but dead, Spurs could try to tempt the disillusioned Bosnian to ditch the Etihad the report suggests.
Hugo Lloris’ future has been greatly speculated this summer and the Lyon keeper’s father believes that his proposed move to Tottenham could pick up pace once the Modric saga ends. Luc Lloris was quoted by The Sun saying: “I’m sure that Hugo’s move will be accelerated if Modric joins Real.”
Tottenham Hotspur have lost out on one of their targets as ESPN report that Rubin Kazan have completed the signing of Malaga forward Salomon Rondon. Spurs were looking to take advantage of Malaga’s financial situation by snapping up the 22 year old but the Russians have beaten them to the post by agreeing a four year deal with the Venezuelan.
