Chelsea have paid Belgian agents a large sum of money in recent years as part of a sudden influx of players into Stamford Bridge from that part of the world, one of whom was keeper Thibaut Courtois. The 20 year old is on-loan at Atletico Madrid until the end of the season and The Sun claim that Barcelona are now taken by his talents after watching him from close quarters. Barca see the youngster as Victor Valdes’ replacement and whether Chelsea view him as Petr Cech’s replacement will decide the course of this story.

Meanwhile, Chelsea are looking at AS Roma’s Bosnian midfield dynamo Miralem Pjanic to solve their problems in the centre of the park according to the Daily Star, who claim that the 22 year old could be replacing the soon to depart Frank Lampard. Pjanic will cost somewhere in the region of £12m but signing the player will not be an easy task, especially with PSG hanging around the whole of Serie A looking for a bargain buy.

Chelsea’s move for Pjanic could have been initiated by Paulinho’s comments after Corinthians’ victory over the Blues in the Club World Cup, where the Brazilian midfielder Esporte.ig that he wasn’t engineering a January exit and that he wanted to build on the success with Corinthians.
