Former Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti cleared the air on Tuesday regarding his club’s interest in Arsenal’s wantaway striker Robin van Persie. The current Paris St. Germain manager declared in a press conference, ‘Robin van Persie is not our target, but I think there are a number of other clubs who are interested in him.’
The news is likely to receive a mixed reception from Arsenal fans with Gooners desperately wanting the Dutch striker to stay, but in the event that they should lose him (which seems most likely at this point), they would want him not to join a rival club in the Premier League and perhaps fetch the best possible price in the transfer market – two conditions which the Paris based club would no doubt fulfil well.
Van Persie last week shocked Arsenal fans by releasing an open statement on his personal website declaring his desire to leave the Gunners due to differences between himself and the club management in terms of their vision and ambitions for the club.
The 28-year old Dutchman is desperate to win trophies, something Arsenal hasn’t done for the last 7 years.
