Paris Saint-Germain could be ready to continue their summer exploits, with manager Carlo Ancelotti targeting Chelsea left-back Ashley Cole.
The 31-year old defender has played under Ancelotti when the Italian manager was in charge of the Blues, and with only one year left on his contract, has been rumoured with a possible exit from Stamford Bridge this summer.
Cole is yet to be offered a new deal by big-spending Chelsea, and while the Blues have maintained that the veteran full-back will be offered a new contract before the end of the transfer window, PSG are ready to test Roberto di Matteo’s resolve for the player with a bid for the man who the Blues signed in 2006.
Cole, since his move from Arsenal, has won a Premier League title, four FA Cups and the Champions League with Chelsea, but has turned increasingly disillusioned over his future after Chelsea’s delay over a new contract.
Should Chelsea price Cole too high though, PSG could be willing to wait it out till January, after which Cole would be able to negotiate a deal with the club without the Blues’ approval, and leave on a Bosman next summer.
