Even though he is blatantly tapping up Tottenham superstar Gareth Bale it has not stopped Real Madrid President Florentino Perez launching into a fantastic tirade against Arsenal and Juventus over their pursuit of Argentine striker Gonzalo Higuain this summer.
The Real Madrid forward is keen on leaving the Santiago Bernabeu this summer and has been actively courted by both clubs as they look to bolster their attack force for next season. However, Perez has declared that he will not let the player leave on the cheap and will do everything in his power to extract the full market value for Higuain from his suitors.
Perez declared, ‘With £25.5m it’s better that they don’t come. Let’s see if people ask us for £50m for everyone and we sell one of ours for half that.’
It is believed that Juventus and Arsenal had bid between 20 and 25 million pounds for the player, but after having been asked to cough up close to 50 million for Uruguayan strikers Edinson Cavani and Luis Suarez by Napoli and Liverpool respectively, Perez has decided to play hardball with Arsenal and Juve.
