Sat 4th Aug – Liverpool transfer news, one player staying, one possibly leaving and two targeted

Brendan Rodgers has rubbished claims that he didn’t play Daniel Agger in Liverpool’s Europa League qualifier against Gomel due to Man City’s pursuit of the defender. The manager suggested that he didn’t want to risk an injury to the Danish centre-back as he told Sky Sports: “The plan was always for Daniel to stay behind. Everyone knows his history of injuries. He came back to pre-season training after everyone else and is still not up to speed.” The Daily Mail report today morning that Liverpool are in talks with the 27 year old over a new contract, contrary to the rumours fuelled by his agent.

Liverpool have made their first move in the pursuit of Uruguayan Gaston Ramirez as TalkSport reveal that they have lodged a £12.6m bid with Bologna. The 21 year old attacker is exactly the type of player Brendan Rodgers has been looking to draft into the Liverpool squad. But Bologna might have other ideas as they are reportedly willing to business only at £16m.

Mamadou Sakho’s summer of uncertainty has finally come to end as the Liverpool and Arsenal target announced his desire to stay with PSG. The 22 year old central defender has fallen behind in the pecking order at PSG following Thiago Silva’s arrival, but after ling deliberation he categorically told the club’s website that he was totally focussed on the new season and had no plans of leaving the Parc des Princes.

Craig Bellamy could be on the move again claim the Metro as Cardiff are negotiating a deal with Liverpool for the 33 year old. The Welshman hasn’t received any guarantees from Brendan Rodgers for the upcoming season and a final move to his old club is definitely on the cards.

  • WELL WELL

LFC have a really tough start to the season and I fear Brendan will be under huge pressure by the end of September

Well I hope rogers starts bringing some real quality soon . We need it. 1 shot on goal all game against Belarus side Gomel was poor. Thought Borrini was a great player mr rogers. He didn’t even get a shot on goal I believe. I know its only 1 game but come on if Gomel was playing in the English league they would be a league 1/2 side . We were lucky to win 1-0 . Should of been more comfy than that even with a depleted side.I feel were just doing same as last season and getting average players in.our aim is a top 4 and the team that finished 2nd in our league last season ( man u) have Just signed lewandowski from dortmand who won the german league and got top goal scorer with 22 goals none of which were penalties and also got top goal scorer in the cup with a further 6 goals. We get Borrini who has played championship for Swansea, Chelsea reserves, played 5 games for Chelsea first team 2 of which were cup and scored none. He’s that good Parma were willing to loan him to Roma last season where he scored 9 goals in 24 games. Roma also must of thought very highly of him for selling him to us just after signing him themselves. That’s the difference between us and the top 4 teams. Were now goner get Allen a welsh international . His stats of pass success sounds good but he only got 2 assists last season. When was the last time wales made the world cup or euros ? I can’t see us improving into a top 4 team with these average players in my opinion . Hope I’m proven wrong I really do but can’t see it. Here we go again with adding some more sh*t signings. Were getting mid table class players in to help us get a top 4 spot. I dont get it. The fact we got Borrini and prob Allen was not cause a scout came back to rogers and said get those 2 thare amazing . Were getting them cause rogers has worked with them before . Bit narrow minded but maybe since rogers is pretty new to prem class of football he prob don’t have the contacts the top managers do

Would like to see some shrewd business by the big man to bringin new faces of quality. The final third is lacking albeit strikers not being used. have seen glimpses of brilliance in the Gommel game but Prem is a different class.
