Sat 7th July – Liverpool transfer news round up, outcasts going in different directions

Joe Cole, one of the most promising English players of his era, is back in the spotlight and is ready to give his best at Liverpool, stating that he had more than something to prove at the club. Speaking to liverpoolfc.com, Cole said, “It’s a clean slate for everyone, so I’m delighted to be back. Training has been good – and it’s nice to be back in England and nice to be back in Liverpool.” He added that he didn’t want to be remembered as a failure at the historic club. Cole spent the last season on loan at Lille, helping them to a Champions League spot, but is back in the fold at Anfield following the arrival of Brendan Rodgers.

Turkish giants Fenerbahce have set their sights on Liverpool midfielder Alberto Aquilani claims the Mirror. The injury-plagued midfielder is transfer-listed at the Merseyside club under Brendan Rodgers, and will be available for around 6 million pounds. The former Roma man, who has spent the last two seasons on loan in Italy, is looking to move on, and the Istanbul-based club are keen to sign him as a replacement for Emre Belozoglu, who has joined Atletico Madrid. Aquilani may be coaxed into joining the Turkish side by the lure of Champions League football.
