Frank Lampard has squashed rumours linking him with a move to the MLS as veteran midfielder pledged his future to Chelsea. Lampard was pictured watching an LA Galaxy game with David Beckham last week, thus fueling speculation regarding his future, especially with only a year left in current deal. But the 34 year old told The Sun that: “There’s nothing in that at all.” Adding that he was on holiday with his fiancee but more pertinently he revealed that his thigh strain had completely healed and was now geared up for the long season ahead.
In further Chelsea news, the Metro report that Marseille right-back Cesar Azpilicueta is once again being tracked by the European Champions after they have seemingly given up on their other target, Maicon. The 22 year old is also being tracked by Newcastle United but the Blues remain favorites at the moment.
Ligue 1 giants Lille have confirmed the capture of forward Salomon Kalou on a free transfer. The Ivory Coast international signed a four-year deal with the club after being released by former employers Chelsea following a six-year spell at Stamford Bridge. An official release by the club website reported, “LOSC formalises the arrival of Salomon Kalou, who has this morning made the traditional medical visit after his arrival at Domaine de Luchin yesterday. The contract of the 26-year-old European champion is four seasons. The former Chelsea player is committed to the club until 2016.”
