Marouane Fellaini to Manchester United is a done deal, if reports in Belgian newspaper Nieuwsblad are to be believed. According to a story published in the paper, the Red Devils have acquired the services of the Belgian for a fee reported to be in the region of £28m and that he would be officially unveiled as a United player in a press conference on Monday.
Meanwhile, The Daily Mirror has a slightly different take to the whole issue. Reports in the newspaper suggest that the Belgian is on the verge of a move to Old Trafford and that the Toffees are demanding the services of England Under-21 prospect Jesse Lingard on a temporary basis to complete the move. The Red Devils have already tabled a massive £36m deal for the Belgian and Leighton Baines combined, but the Merseysiders are keen to salvage a bit more out of the whole transaction.
Manager Roberto Martinez, meanwhile, looked resigned to the reality of losing Fellaini. The Spaniard was quoted telling reporters: “They are top players for Everton and you always want to keep them – but you are not always in control of what is going to happen.”
