Thurs 9th Aug – Chelsea transfer news, multiple top players linked with moves to Stamford Bridge

Sportmediaset has news that will truly leave Chelsea fans salivating by declaring that Napoli are ready to part with super striker Edinson Cavani, and are shockingly prepared to settle for a cut price offer of €35 million. While large parts of the story are not google friendly for translation, the gist of it is Napoli are ready to sell the player and Chelsea are ready to buy him. Our only concern is that when it often sounds too good to be true, it usually is.

The Andre Schurrle to Chelsea transfer saga continues to be confusing with latest reports in the Daily Mail saying the reigning European Champions are planning on returning to Bayer Leverkusen with an offer of 20 million pounds for the young German starlet. Just last week there was a rumour doing the rounds they had bid 25 million. Surely someone must be wrong!

While Chelsea are eyeing Cavani, it appears that the Italian club are planning a reverse raid by making an £8 million offer for Portuguese midfielder Raul Meireles according to the Daily Mail. Meireles has had a love-hate relationship with the club and was far from pleased at the sacking of Andre Villas-Boas, but was overjoyed at having won the Champions League trophy last season. With a host of young midfield talent coming into the club this summer, it will be interesting to see what Roberto di Matteo decides to do with Meireles should a formal bid come his way.

Maisfutebol reports that Chelsea target Alvaro Pereira is set for showdown talks with Porto about his future. It will be interesting to see whether Chelsea continue their interest in the player now that Ashley Cole has expressed his desire to stay on for another few years. With Ryan Bertrand as back-up, surely the Blues don’t need a Yuri Zhirkov repeat.
