Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Lyon’s versatile fullback Michel Bastos.

Bastos, who can play both as a left back and as a winger, has been a key player for Lyon since joining them back in 2009. The Brazilian’s versatility has been one of the main reasons why he has always been linked with lot of European club. The 29-year-old has been previously linked with a move to Arsenal, Liverpool, Fulham and Juventus. Back in 2011, Harry Redknapp tried to sign Bastos during the January transfer window, but both the clubs couldn’t come to an agreement over a transfer fee.

According to reports in German media, Tottenham are preparing a €10m bid for the Brazilian in January. But there are concerns about how Lyon will receive their interest, as relations between both the clubs have taken a wrong turn following the unceremonious move of Hugo Lloris this season. The management of the French club wasn’t happy with how Tottenham conducted themselves during the Hugo Lloris transfer saga. It looks likely that Lyon can hold Spurs to ransom if they do approach Lyon for Bastos.

Bastos will certainly bring in lot of experience to the Tottenham squad and his combination with someone like Gareth Bale on the left could be something to behold.
