Arsene Wenger’s hopes of signing Aston Villa’s promising right-back Matt Lawton has hit a roadblock in the form of Paul Lambert, who strongly stated to the Metro that the 23 year old defender was not for sale. Bacary Sagna’s uncertain future has meant that Wenger is on the lookout for a new right-back, but whether Lawton will be the man to replace is unclear after Lambert asserted that ex-Sheffield United player will remain at Villa Park, unless the manager himself gives the go ahead.
Barcelona’s hopes of cashing in on Alexis Sanchez has taken an unexpected turn as the Chilean attacker has declared his love for the Catalans, clearly stating his intention to remain at Nou Camp. Arsenal and Liverpool were hoping to take advantage of the winger’s struggles at Barca by making a summer move but TalkSport quote the ex-Udinese star saying: “I am very happy here. I have a contract until 2016 and I want to stay.”
