Weds 11th July – Arsenal transfer news, priced out of striker and RVP updates

Fiorentina have intimated the suitors of their star forward Stevan Jovetic that they would sell him only if they receive a bid in the region of €30 million, reported Sky Sports. Chelsea, Arsenal and Juventus are said to be tracking the Montenegro international and the club had earlier refused to sell the 22 year-old this summer. However, Viola sporting director Daniele Prade told Sky Sports, “Since the start of the season we have said that we are not selling Jovetic. There is, however, an agreement with the player that [should we get an offer] above a certain figure, we will sit down and evaluate the offer. So far we have not received an offer for the player. He is a top player and we will only consider offers above 30 million euros.” Prade did share that the club had yet to receive any offer.

The Daily Mail reports that Arsenal’s boss Arsene Wenger wants a quick outcome about the future of Robin Van Persie. The French manager wants to hold on to his star striker (obviously) and is set for a heart to heart talk with his skipper. However, if he fails in his quest to keep the Dutch hitman at the Emirates (likely), Wenger wants the club to offload him as soon as possible to get time to spend the cash generated by RVP’s departure.

PSG have rubbished rumours of any plans to move for Arsenal rebel Robin van Persie, according to Soccernet. The Dutchman told the Gunners last week that he would not sign a new contract at the Emirates and was keen on a move away this summer. The 28 year-old was naturally expected to be on the wishlist of the big spending Ligue 1 club. However, PSG manager Carlo Ancelotti has said in a press conference, “Van Persie is not a target of ours, but I think he is for other clubs.”
