We have only just seen the back of February and Arsenal’s season is over. They are out of two domestic cup competitions, almost out of Champions League and they were never in the title race from the beginning. To make the matter worse, fans are calling for Wenger’s head.
Yes, fans are getting frustrated with their manager. They are showing anger against the man who has been at the club for 16 long years and has done so much for the betterment of the club.
People respect for what he has done for Arsenal but after enduring another season without trophy, the barrier of patience is finally melting down. Whether, Wenger is the right man for the club is a different issue but he deserves much more respect than what he is getting.
He needs support from every where. It is the time where Arsenal as a club must stick together and fight for a common cause. Lyon manager Remy Garde said as quoted in L’Equipe:
“Of course I still think that he is a great manager”
“When you consider the number of years he has spent leading the club with which he has come such a long way.
“He has been criticised for not winning trophies, but compared to what he brought to the club, there must be a little more respect for his work.”
Arsenal don’t have any sugar daddy like Chelsea or Manchester City owners and they cannot afford to go finish outside top four yet spending recklessly like Liverpool too. Taking these factors into consideration, Wenger has done remarkably well in keeping the club in Champions League in each and every season.
Financially, they are one of the few stable clubs in the entire world. He has flaws and rightly getting the stick for it, but the Frenchman deserves lot respect from everyone.
