Wenger looking to close gap on leaders, you are kidding right?

With such a poor performance against Norwich at the weekend which left Arsenal ten points behind League Leaders, Gunners boss Arsene Wenger wants his team to focus on closing the gap and challenge for the title.

But what he is failing to remember is that his squad simply isn’t good enough to cut it with the big boys anymore and the best he can get this season is a top four finish.

They only managed that magical Champions League position last season because they had the best striker in the Premier League, Robin Van Persie. Who got them out of trouble on so many occasions but which has become another big name out the door looking for trophies somewhere else.

So who do you expect to help you close that gap Wenger? Do you have anybody in mind or do you expect miracles to happen?

You cannot win things with such a mixture of average, good and great players with the latter being only two or three.

Chelsea, Man City, Man United and Tottenham all have better squads than the Gunners, they are all playing more attractive football and are quite simply all better teams than the one Arsenal are putting out on a weekly basis.

It doesn’t matter much you rally the players; you can’t rely on good luck and great fortune to get you out of trouble.

To be a great team you have to either buy produce good players or go out and buy a few world-class stars to help their cause, and with the exception of Thomas Vermaelen, Jack Wilshere and Santi Cazorla, Arsenal are lacking quality and will fail to compete with the better teams over the course of the season.

Mind the gap Wenger because it’s only going to get bigger.
